About Kozanji Temple
Kyoto's Kozanji Temple in Toganoo is famous for its paintings of Choju Jinbutsu Giga (Cartoon Paintings of Animals and People), a national treasure. During the Kamakura period, Zen Master Eisai, who popularized the benefits of tea in Japan, brought back tea plants from China. The temple's monk Myoe inherited the tea plants and planted them here, marking the birthplace of tea cultivation. The product name is inspired by this origin.
